Grab your family, pack your hat and mittens, and throw on your long-johns for a fun family-friendly New Year's celebration in the park. Hike miles of candle-lit trails, warm up at one of several roaring bonfires, toast marshmallows and more! Please join us for a fun and unique way to celebrate 2017 and ring in 2018! Family friendly activities include:
- A Story Stroll: Hike from page to page and enjoy the unique experience of reading "If You Were the Moon" by Laura Purdie Salas along a candle-lit trail. (Hosted by the Nokomis Library.)

Enjoy skiing and snowshoeing by the light of the moon, with candle luminaries to help guide the way. Three separate routes are lit for this popular annual event.

Two skiing routes and a shuttle bus will run continuously between the Trail Center and the Interpretive Center. Ski rental ($10/day for skis, boots and poles) is available at the Park Office on a first-come, first-served basis. A Minnesota Ski Pass is required for all skiers over 16 years of age.

Nisswa welcomes the holiday season with a countdown to lighting up the town that culminates with a fireworks display Friday, Nov. 23. Downtown will be ablaze by 5:30 p.m., with holiday lights adorning trees and fences, stores and other buildings. Festivities for the annual event begin in the afternoon with horse-drawn wagon rides, live reindeer, storytelling, food merchants, bonfires, hot cider and donut holes at the Pioneer Village and holiday carolers. Santa Claus comes to town on the Nisswa firetruck at 6pm and fireworks shoot up over town at 7:30 pm
